2017 has been a bumper year for Estilo Sports Travel with over 1000 passengers entrusting us to organise their tour. Schools, sporting clubs and social groups, travelled around the globe competing in a wide variety of sports, consolidated their learning across several KLA’s and undertook various enriching service based initiatives.

From January to September 2017, we sent tours to: South Africa, Germany, USA, Canada, Fiji, New Zealand, Vanuatu, South America and the Philippines. We also hosted several inbound tours from USA, South Africa and New Zealand. Later this year a number of schools and clubs will travel to the United Kingdom, Fiji, India, Singapore, Philippines and the USA with Estilo.

We spoke with St Patrick’s College Strathfield student, Luke P about their football tour to South America:

Was there one highlight for you while overseas?

Yes, my main highlight of the trip was travelling to some of the schools while we were there, as we got to experience their everyday lifestyle. Some other highlights where competing against these schools.

What was the football like when in South America?

The football in South America was completely different to what we play here in Australia. They play with a completely different mentality and very different to us.

How did you manage the language barrier?

The language barrier was not as difficult as we originally expected it to be. We also had help from one boy on our team who could partially speak Spanish.

The Argentines are famous for the love of meat. Any memorable BBQ’s while you were overseas?

While overseas we had many memorable BBQ’s. One especially memorable one was the first night of billeting. The family had made a traditional Argentinean BBQ. This was probably my favorite meal of the whole trip.

Your tour included a few nights of billeting. How did you find that experience?

Personally, I found billeting the best part of the trip, we got to engage and experience in a traditional South American lifestyle. I also found that dinner was the most important meal to them and many important conversations happened during it.

Do you think the tour has improved your football ability?

Yes, definitely! This tour has improved my football ability extremely and my mentality when playing.
